New edition of Architectours through Saxony-Anhalt
“Architectours“ contains tours of Colourful City Magdeburg, Bauhaus City Dessau, and University City Halle (Saale). In Magdeburg, the 1920s residential areas especially stand out as a result from their socially oriented layouts and expressive colour patterns. Dessau, the “Modern Architecture Museum,” represents the influence that Bauhaus exerts worldwide over architecture and design. Halle (Saale) has an especially large number of examples of how new architecture can be carefully integrated into a historical cityscape, and thus contribute to the emergence of a modern and attractive university city. Available in book shops.

Architectours through Saxony-Anhalt - Film Project
The film is an architectural journey through the Bauhaus City Dessau, the Colourful City Magdeburg, and the University City Halle (Saale). It was realised in collaboration with the Journalism and Media Management section of the Department of Communication and Media, University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal. The filmmakers, assisted by Professor Ilona Wuschig, based the script on Architectours through Saxony-Anhalt, published by the Architektenkammer Saxony-Anhalt. Walter Gropius, Director of the Bauhaus, returns to Dessau, where he once enjoyed his most creative and influential period. Not only does he visit the Bauhaus building, the Bauhaus Foundation, and the Master houses, he also takes a look at new architecture in Dessau by touring the Umweltbundesamt (Federal Environmental Agency). His journey then takes him to Magdeburg and Halle (Saale). The architectural journey is devoted to Gropius’ forays, encounters, and visits of buildings. All three cities – Magdeburg, Dessau, and Halle (Saale) – offer a host of surprises for citizens and visitors alike. In Magdeburg, Gropius visits Reform, a listed residential area, the Experimental Factory, and the Steinblocks - a family of architects who built their home in the middle of Magdeburg. In Halle (Saale), the University campus with the Law Faculty and the New Theatre ensemble are the cornerstones of the visit. On June 2, 2007, the film was premiered during the Third Central German Architects Convention in the Bauhaus Dessau to great public acclaim.
